Venice MainStreet’s 2010 Beautification Award goes to VABI
1/2/2011(Venice, Florida) Venice MainStreet recently announced that Venice Area Beautification, Inc. (VABI) is this years’ recipient of their Beautification Award. VABI was selected for their work in revitalizing and upgrading John Nolan Park on the island of Venice. Throughout November, VABI volunteers planted trees, improved and paved the walkway, accessible curb cuts, added a grill and new picnic tables; one of which is ADA handicap accessible. To round out the new look, a concrete orb was donated by a dedicated local citizen. John Nolan Park is located west of Harbour Drive, between Menendez and Palmetto streets.
Venice Area Beautification, Inc. Wins Beautification Award

(Venice, Florida) Venice Area Beautification, Inc. (VABI) received the beautification award at the ninth annual Arts and Culture Alliance, Muses Awards Banquet that was held recently at the Jacaranda West Country Club. The first award was given to VABI for their pro-active effort in securing a grant to improve West Blalock Park. A second award was presented to VABI member Monty Andrews for his dedicated commitment to developing an attractive, eco-friendly Arboretum that harmonizes with the West Blalock Park location. Andrews led the landscaping effort to plant more than 64 trees and palms, the majority of which were Florida native or Florida friendly, shrubbery, a succulent plant rock garden and soon to be completed rose garden.
Organized in 1998, and representing the communities of Osprey, Nokomis, Laurel, Venice, North Port, Englewood, Rotunda, Placida, and Boca Grande, the non-profit Arts And Culture Alliance was formed to encourage and promote a diverse community of artists, arts and cultural organizations, musicians, vocalists, writers, and performing artists. Through their combined efforts there is a greater awareness of art and culture in our communities’ quality of life.
