Ribbons of Venice

With the rebuilding of the old rail trestles over Dona and Roberts Bay and the completion of the Legacy Trail Pedestrian Overpass Bridge, which links the Trail with Venetian Waterway Park, plans to develop a network of trails have gained momentum.

The Ribbons project envisions connecting this major north-south cycling and pedestrian spine with other parks and public spaces in Sarasota County. The potential to walk and cycle easily throughout the county is an underutilized source of environmentally sensitive mobility and recreation for residents and visitors.

— Quaint downtowns and vibrant city centers
— Smooth paths to our pristine beaches
— Access to expansive natural preserves
— Connectivity to inviting city and pocket parks
— Cycle entry to historical and recreational venues

The Ribbons Project will weave people and communities together, giving everyone the opportunity to ride and walk through our scenic natural Florida, view wild life, learn history up close, engage with others and exercise in an environment apart from vehicles and traffic.
